Sensei Richard Bolton 6th Dan

Richard started Karate aged 15. He has coached athletes to national and international competition level with his extraordinary attention to detail. Richard was a pioneer in the Karate world, bringing his experience of sports psychology to the fore by working with athletes’ mental health. Richard also ran the London Youth Games as Chief Referee for several years. Starting his own organisation in 2000, Richard supplemented traditional training methods with a more modern approach, focusing on training intelligently as well as on health and longevity. Returning to the roots of Karate in Taiwan, Richard and his wife, Alex, were privileged to learn White Crane Kung Fu from Dong Mu Yao’s last student, and Tai Chi Chuan and Chi Gong from Master Wang Ming-Yi.

Sensei Alex Bolton 4th Dan

Alex started Karate aged 11 and was the All England Female Kata Champion in 2006. She represented England in both individual team Kata in European and World Championships. Alex started teaching Karate professionally in 2000 and quickly built her clubs with her infectious love of her subject and fun teaching style. Taking regular trips to Taiwan to learn and practise Tai Chi, Chi Gong and White Crane Kung Fu, and to Okinawa to learn and practise traditional Karate and Kobudō, Alex trained with some of the world’s greatest martial arts masters. Alex was awarded Shidōin (Kobudō teaching diploma) by Akamine Hiroshi Hanshi and she heads the Wimbledon Kobudō Shibu.

“Sensei Alex and Sensei Bolton are amazing individuals: nurturing and motivational, they command a room (or a Zoom) with calm and kind authority.”
