Chi Gong

This course draws on the instructors’ life long martial arts experience.  Bringing the traditional martial arts values of self care and self awareness, the mindful movement of Tai Chi, Chi Gong, and Karate is an extremely effective way for children to learn to be present in the moment, to pause and reset and to deal with stress and worries.  We focus strongly on learning to breathe correctly with movement and how breath can be used effectively in stressful situations. In the first session all students will learn an easy movement sequence for relaxation, with the aim that over time these sequences become more complex, challenging and fun. This is a great aid to memory and concentration. The aim of this course is to teach students to mindfully immerse themselves in the activity; by teaching sequences of moves, we empty our minds of any worries.  These skills are cumulative and can be carried forward into adulthood.

Self Cultivation

Self cultivation (Xiu Yang) is an ancient Chinese concept.  The practice of martial arts encompasses the ideas of taking time for both mental and physical health and makes our practice more relevant today than ever.  The Dōjō is a sanctuary and we leave our troubles at the door and take time to immerse ourselves in our practice. Training every week at a specific time makes this time non-negotiable and part of an important self-care routine which we all need, now more than ever.

Zoom class every day 09.00 - 09.30

Get up and get going, a great way to start your day and get your energy flowing.  The best way to get results and feel fantastic is through daily practice. Practise from home or take Alex with you to the office or park.  Practise with members of your family or co-workers.   You can even keep up your practice on holiday. Corporate classes available upon request, a great way to connect if you’re working from home.
